Adobo (Filipino Cuisine)

Adobo is the comfort food of Filipinos, this is so much easy to cook.


Here are the ingredients:

• 2 pounds pork
• 1 cup soy sauce
• 1/2 cup white vinegar
• 1 tablespoon fresh ground pepper
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 5 garlic cloves, minced
• 3 bay leaves

DIRECTION:

1. Combine soy sauce, vinegar, black pepper, brown sugar, garlic and bay leaves in the bottom of the pot.
2. Place the skin side of the pork down in a pot and bring to a boil.
3. When simmering, turn down the fire in a low heat and cover.
4. After 30 minutes, remove the cover and turn the chicken and simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
5. Serve.
You can also use chicken breast and beef it is up to the cook what meat you will use. The taste of Adobo is very rare, it is sweet, salty, little bit sour, this dish is very famous not just in the Philippine but for some country they usually do this recipe also.

If you are more of the vegetarian person, you can choose other part of the pork and add some vegetables on the Adobo, you can add potatoes and carrots.
Adobo or Adobar means marinade or seasoning it is Spanish term. When the Spanish came to the Philippines, they encountered Filipinos cooking process that involves vinegar, they trade their soy sauce to the vinegar and the Filipinos created another version of Adobo, a mixture of vinegar and soy sauce.

Until now, Adobo is still cooked in the house, restaurants and everywhere and even in the high-end places, you should try Adobo some time.
