Cream Puffs: Easy and Tasty


Profiterole or Cream Puff, it is a French dessert: ball shaped filled with whipped cream, custard and pastry cream. The word Profiterole is used because it means a smaller version of Cream puff and usually topped with chocolate sauce or dusting with sugar powder.

Cream Puffs bread is piped through a pastry bag and dropped with a pair of spoons. Making it to a ball shape and backed to form largely hollow puffs. It will be injected a filling when it cooled using a pastry bag.

Common presentation of Cream Puff has a whipped cream or ice cream fillings. It was topped with powdered sugar or with chocolate sauce. This dish is popular in France and Italy which is usually served during holidays like Christmas and New Year.

I know you all want a recipe of this dish, I will not keep you waiting, and here are the ingredients.


1 cup water
1/2 cup butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 egg yolk, lightly beaten
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Additional confectioners’ sugar


Bring water, butter and salt to boil in a medium heat.
Add flour all at once and stir until there is a ball shape forms.
Remove from the heat and set aside and cool for about 5 minutes.
Add eggs one at a time, beating eggs well.
Continue beating until the mixture is smooth.

Drop by 1/4 cupful’s 3 in. in greased baking sheet.
Mix together the milk and egg yolks.
Bake at 400°F for about 35 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from the racks and cut a slit in each for steam to escape.
Let it cool.

Beat cream until it begins to thicken in a large bowl.
Add vanilla and sugar.
Keep on beating until it is almost stiff.
Split the cream puffs.
Remove the soft dough from inside.
Fill the cream puffs just before serving.
Dust with sugar.
